GM sponsors truck giveaway to Kennebec, S.D. woman

The South Dakota Corn Growers Association partnered with General Motors to promote E-85 and flexible fuel vehicles by offering an opportunity at winning a two-year lease on a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado.

More than 1,200 people participated in SDCGA’s Truckin’ Through 2005 raffle promotion held throughout the summer and fall. Three major prizes were up for grabs when the lucky winners’ names were drawn at the SDCGA Annual Meeting in January.

SDCGA board directors and staff offered the prize opportunity at events throughout the state in 2005 including at the Aberdeen C-Express Ethanol promotion; Farmer Appreciation Day at the Sioux Empire Fair; Ethanol Day at Thunder Road; Dakotafest; Brown County Fair in Aberdeen; Value-Added Day at the South Dakota State Fair; and many more seminars and events the SDCGA.

The Grand Prize winner, Meta Halverson of Kennebec, S.D., of the new flex-fuel truck from General Motors bought her ticket at Dakotafest. She claimed her prize from Chevrolet of Sioux Falls.

Prizes and winners:

General Motors: 2-year lease on a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 4×4 Extended Cap
Winner: Meta Halverson of Kennebec, S.D.

All About Travel: Airfare and lodging for 4 days/3 nights at the winner’s choice destination to specified cities in the U.S. or Cancun
Winner: Mark Rames of Olivet, S.D.

South Dakota Corn Utilization Council: $1,200 in ethanol fuel
Winner: Larry Skelton, Hazel, S.D.
