Darrin Ihnen of Hurley, S.D., was selected to represent District 2 on the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council (SDCUC) board of directors following an election held last week between Ihnen and Dell Thomas, of Marion, S.D.
Only residents in District 2, which includes the South Dakota counties of Lincoln and Turner, were eligible to vote. The election was held to fill a vacancy on the SDCUC board.
In his new position on the SDCUC board, Ihnen will assist the SDCUC in its mission to promote corn and improve the profitability of corn producers. Ihnen will begin his term on March 1.
Ihnen has also served on the South Dakota Corn Growers Association (SDCGA) board since 1999 and was elected for two presidential terms in the organization from 2002-2004. He currently serves as Chairman for the SDCGA. Ihnen is also on the National Corn Growers Association’s Corn Board. Locally, Ihnen is the board president of Great Plains Ethanol, Chancellor, S.D.
Ihnen operates a diversified crop and livestock farm with his father near Hurley. He and his wife, Becky, have four children, Kelsey, Kayla, Kilee and Jacob.
