RESCHEDULED GrowingOn locations

Due to the 2009 harvest stretching into December, GrowingOn seminars previously scheduled for earlier this month have been rescheduled to accommodate farmers’ harvesting demands. Rescheduled seminars include the presentations previously planned at Sioux Falls, Aberdeen, Watertown and Huron.

While harvesting the 2009 crop has been challenging, farmers have big decisions to make about the record production they have been collecting. When the stakes are high, so are the opportunities and for that reason the South Dakota Corn Growers Association, South Dakota Corn Utilization Council and Farm Credit Services of America will re-offer GrowingOn 2010 at the following dates and locations:

RESCHEDULED GrowingOn 2010 Seminars:

  • Friday, Dec. 18: Sioux Falls Ramkota Hotel, 9 a.m. start
  • Monday, Dec. 21: Aberdeen Best Western Ramkota, Noon start
  • Monday, Dec. 21: Watertown Event Center, 6 p.m. start
  • Tuesday, Dec. 22: Huron Crossroads Hotel, Noon start
GrowingOn 2010 features Steven Johnson, Iowa State University Extension Farm Management Specialist, offering strategies for producers in 2010. The program is a special outlook on crop marketing and crop insurance strategies that aims to position producers with growth opportunities for 2010.

Topics include:

  • Understand Crop Supply/Demand & Price Outlook
  • Grain Storage and Marketing Decisions
  • Reducing Crop Input Costs
  • Managing 2010 Crop Risks & Revenue

Insurance Risk Management Strategies Farm Credit Services of America will present insurance policy features and benefits including information such as:

  • Review of policy changes and options
  • Utilizing insurance coverage to support grain marketing decisions
  • Compare and contrast coverages utilizing different yield and price scenarios
  • Crop insurance buying decision strategies
