Producers
Showplots
The SDCGA hosts a showplot program, which allows local producers to see how various hybrids perform side by side under certain growing conditions. The showplot program also gives the agribusiness representatives a chance to meet producers face-to-face.
A variety of seed companies participate in the SDCGA showplot program. To participate the seed companies are contacted with plot locations and are asked to furnish 1-3 hybrids per plot, at a charge of $75 per hybrid.
Field Days are held in the fall at some plots to showcase the hybrids. After harvest, a showplot results book is published and sent to all members and seed representatives.
To be a showplot cooperator you must be a member of the SDCGA, should not have refunded from the check off program for the previous 12 months, and should have read the showplot rules and agree to abide by them. If you are interested in becoming a showplot cooperator please contact the corn office at (605) 334-0100.
