South Dakota Corn Growers Association (SDCGA)
Board Members
Brian Renelt - District 7
Brian Renelt operates a diversified
family farming operation with his
father and two brothers near Wilmot,
S.D. Their peration consists of hogs,
corn, soybeans and spring wheat.
Renelt joined the SDCGA board of
directors in January of 2008.
Renelt holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Ag Business from South
Dakota State University.
Prior to coming back to the farm, Renelt was employed
with BASF working in the crop protection division doing research and development. After working for BASF, he realized
he was only putting off what he really wanted to do for
a living – working with his family on the farm. So in 1997,
he returned to the family operation to begin farming full
time.
Renelt believes one of the most important issues faming today’s corn producer is trying to protect and grow the
market for corn that groups such as the SDCGA have helped
to build.
Renelt and his wife, Cheryl, have three children: Ethan, 9, Gabrielle, 8, and Reece, 5. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family such as playing ball with his children, and taking them fishing and hunting.
