Jason Kontz - District 4
Jason Kontz lives northwest of Flandreau where he is involved in a partnership with his brothers Brad and Troy. Jason farms corn, soybeans, and maintains cow/cattle operation. He has served on the SDCGA board since January 2001.
Jason says that he choose to become a farmer because he grew up on a farm and "it's what I've wanted to do since I can remember." Jason started farming in 1996 when a neighbor offered him 120 acres of land to rent.
Jason's family members include his parents Ray and Susan, his two brothers Brad and Troy, his sister-in-law Kelly and his nephew Blake.
Jason believes there are many important issues facing today's farmers. "Many important issues, not just one issue--depend on the farmer."
