A Growing Influence - A Growing Investment
A Growing Opportunity

South Dakota Corn Utilization Council (SDCUC)

SDCUC Board Members

Mark Lounsbery - District 6

Mark Lounsbery farms in the Revillo area with his son, Todd, where they produce corn, soybeans, wheat and alfalfa.

Lounsbery attended North Dakota State University in Aberdeen and started farming with his dad in 1968. In the ’70s, he was engaged in a farming partnership involving his brothers. Farming was a natural evolution for Lounsbery who says the profession is “in his blood.”

Lounsbery previously served on the SDCUC board of directors from 1996 through 2001. He also is a director on the boards of the American Corn Growers Association, Northern Lights Ethanol, Northern Wind and the South Dakota Ethanol Producers Association. He and his wife, Kay, have two grown children, Todd and Suzie.

The most important issue facing the industry today, according to Lounsbery, is to operate a successful and profitable business given the high costs of inputs and believes farm income should be captured in the marketplace rather than at taxpayer expense.

“I believe the Corn Council has the opportunity to promote good ideas that will increase farm income,” said Lounsbery. “These ideas include wind energy as well as continued emphasis on livestock development and ethanol in South Dakota.”
