President-elect Joe Biden nominated former Iowa Governor and former agriculture secretary Tom Vilsack to lead the U.S. Department of Agriculture. South Dakota Corn Growers Association Executive Director Lisa Richardson made the following statement:
“The South Dakota Corn Growers Association offers our congratulations to Secretary Vilsack on his nomination to lead the USDA. He has been a longstanding advocate for rural America and corn farmers in South Dakota appreciate his willingness to listen to farmers from across our state.
There is no question that he understands the challenges and opportunities facing our industry and during his previous appointment leading the USDA he recognized the importance of renewable fuels and the opportunity agriculture can play in creating a low carbon fuel standard. We are looking forward to working with him again once he takes office, as we continue to advocate for farmers and issues that impact the agriculture community.”
