Brandon Ritter
SD Corn Utilization Council
District 5
Brandon Ritter of Mound City has spent many years working on behalf of the state’s corn farmers.
Ritter joined the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council’s board of directors, representing District 5, which encompasses Harding, Perkins, Corson, Campbell, Walworth, McPherson, and Brown Counties. He brings a deep passion for agriculture and conservation, shaped by years of hands-on experience and community leadership.
Ritter obtained his Bachelor's degree from Northern State University in Aberdeen. On his family farm near Mound City, he raises corn, soybeans, oats, millet, alfalfa and cattle.
Ritter says he chose farming as a profession because of his love for the land and the satisfaction of producing food, feed, and fuel. The most significant issue facing his operation today, he says, is “egregiously high input costs.”
In addition to his work on the farm and with South Dakota Corn, Ritter serves as board chair for the Campbell County Conservation District and the Campbell County Fire District. He is also a member of the South Dakota Soil Health Coalition and serves as board president for the Herreid School District.
In his spare time, Ritter enjoys attending sporting events and fishing. He and his wife, DeeAnn, have two children: Sophia and Xavier.
