Taylor Sumption

Taylor Sumption

SD Corn Growers Association

President - District 5

Taylor grew up on a family farm near Frederick, South Dakota. While in high school, he met his future wife, Cassandra, at a homecoming dance in 1992. After graduating from high school, he attended South Dakota State University, majoring in ag engineering. He soon realized that he missed farming and life in a small community, so he switched majors and graduated in 1996 with a degree in general agriculture.

After over two decades of farming, Taylor began looking for ways to vertically integrate and develop a product that could be marketed directly to consumers. He believes that if the family farm wants to stay relevant in production agriculture, it must add value to the commodities it produces. His family developed and launched an oatmeal company, Anthem, selling products produced from their oats nationally.

Taylor and his wife, Cassandra, have five children: Miranda, Trevor, Marissa, Tristan and Preston. When not working, he enjoys traveling, flying airplanes and spending time with his family. He is a township supervisor and a volunteer EMT, and he enjoys an active role in his community.
