August Farm Bill FYI with SD Corn Executive Director, DaNita Murray

Welcome to Corn Comments, brought to you by the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council, a group of volunteer farmers working to market and promote corn here in this state, the US and around the globe. I’m DaNita Murray, Executive Director for South Dakota Corn.

We talked about base acres generally in July and since then, the National Corn Growers Association adopted a policy position on a one-time nationwide mandatory base acre update on recent historical plantings. So any ARC and PLC changes would be applied to those acres. Based on past information, the Congressional Budget Office, has indicated this type of proposal saves at least $1 billion over a 10 year timeframe.
