Corn Comments featuring Jim Ketelhut, South Dakota Corn Utilization Council Vice President

Welcome to Corn Comments! I'm Jim Ketelhut, from Pukwana. We are brought to you by the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council, a volunteer group of farmers who promote corn marketing in this state, the U.S., and around the globe.

May is beef month. As a corn producer who also has cattle, I understand the role raising beef plays in our state and the export opportunities in the global economy.

The United States is the world’s largest beef producer and exports beef products to consumers around the globe. Corn-fed beef is also the most widely produced type of beef in the U.S. It is a product prized around the world for its highly-marbled cuts. Beef is an important source of nutrients that are vital for supporting good health, such as protein, Vitamin B12, zinc and iron.

On behalf of the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council, get out there and enjoy Beef Month!
