Corn Comments featuring SDCGA Member, Kelsey Geraets
Welcome to Corn Comments! I'm Kelsey Geraets, a board member for the South Dakota Corn Growers Association. We are brought to you today by the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council, a volunteer group of farmers who promote corn marketing in this state, the U.S., and around the globe.
March is Women’s History Month. Women have been a critical part of agricultural operations across the country – and around the globe – for centuries. In the United States alone, 31 percent of producers are women, farming and ranching over 300 million acres with an economic impact of twelve point nine billion dollars per year.
From the farm to the boardroom, women in agriculture are helping pave the way for a better future. It is our responsibility to make sure the next generation of women are encouraged and empowered to take on the challenges of meeting the world’s growing food, fuel and fiber needs.
On behalf of the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council, join us in honoring all the amazing women, past and present, who have shaped agriculture in our country and around the world.
