Corn Comments featuring Tom Peterson, South Dakota Dairy Producers
Welcome to Corn Comments! I'm Tom Peterson, Executive Director of the South Dakota Dairy Producers. We are brought to you by the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council, a volunteer group of farmers who promote corn marketing in this state, the U.S., and around the globe.
June is Dairy Month. South Dakota’s dairy industry includes family dairy farms as well as large-scale milk processors.
According to the International Dairy Foods Association, South Dakota’s dairy industry had a total economic impact of $4.85 billion last year. The state’s dairy industry helped to create 14,700 jobs.
The dairy industry also bring benefits to the state’s crop farmers. Dairy manure has also proven to be a valuable source of fertilizer for crop farmers located close to a dairy operation.
On behalf of the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council, get out there and enjoy Dairy Month!
