Welcome to Corn Comments! I’m Heidi Zwinger, Executive Director of the South Dakota Dairy Producers.
We are brought to you by the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council, a volunteer group of farmers who promote corn marketing in this state, the U.S., and around the globe.
June is Dairy Month, and it’s a great time to recognize the important role dairy plays across South Dakota. In fact, 94% of our dairy farms are family owned, and together, the industry contributes more than 1.5 billion dollars to our state’s economy.
Dairy doesn’t just support local communities; it also strengthens agriculture as a whole. Dairy farms rely on corn for feed, and in return, provide valuable manure nutrients that help nearby crop farmers improve soil health and productivity.
It’s a partnership that benefits both livestock and crop producers, right here at home.
On behalf of the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council, join us in celebrating June Dairy Month.
