Corn Comments: May is World Trade Month

Welcome to Corn Comments! I’m Chris Martin, Director of Operations and Policy at South Dakota Trade. We are brought to you by the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council, a volunteer group of farmers who promote corn marketing in this state, the U.S., and around the globe.

May is World Trade Month! South Dakota agriculture doesn’t stop at our borders. In fact, a large portion of the corn grown right here in our state is connected to international markets—whether it’s exported directly or used to produce ethanol, livestock, and products that are shipped worldwide.

Trade strengthens our rural communities by creating demand, supporting prices, and opening new opportunities for South Dakota farmers. Strong global partnerships help ensure that the crops we grow continue to reach customers around the world.

The South Dakota Corn Utilization Council is working for you to expand markets and grow demand—both here at home and across the globe.
