A Corny Valentine..

Posted on February 14, 2011

What are your plans for Valentine’s Day? Let me guess, you bought or received some flowers, chocolates and a card. You probably plan on eating a nice dinner, a couple of steaks perhaps. Sounds nice, but it’s all kind of corny isn’t it? I’m not putting down the day of love, I’m just saying that corn has provided for a number of those luxuries that so many enjoy each Valentine’s Day.

  • Those chocolates in the heart-shaped box have been sweetened by corn sugar.
  • That lovely card was made from fiber, another domestic product that comes from corn.
  • When you sit down to eat that rib eye or sirloin, most likely the animal was nourished with corn.
  • And don’t forget the fuel that gets you to and fro, chances are that has corn ethanol in it too.

So whether you love it or hate it, don’t let it be thorny,

because Valentine’s Day is most definitely corny.
