In just the last five years, advancements in precision agriculture have been a game changer for farm efficiency. Using less energy, cutting emissions, precisely placing nutrients, planting just the right amount of seed, not overlapping on spray and increasing overall yields. Now with corn prices at 3-year lows, farmers will need to continue to push themselves in this arena.
One way farmers can expand their knowledge on precision agriculture would be by attending the Western Corn Belt Precision Ag Conference hosted by South Dakota State University Extension on March 18th (9am-5pm) and 19th (9am-noon) in Sioux Falls at the Convention Center.
The event will feature sessions at which agriculture producers, industry members and the general public can learn about the latest developments and technologies that lead to the best possible yields.
Multiple SDSU precision research scientists and SDSU Extension specialists will bring updates for planting, pest control, and drainage for the 2014 growing season.
There will be representatives from many of the major ag retailers to discuss their latest precision equipment and technology for 2014. Raven Industries and SDSU will also discuss results from their 2013 experience with multi-variety planting.
So if you’re looking for new ways to improve your farm and optimize your yields in 2014 and beyond, we recommend attending the Western Corn Belt Precision Ag Conference for fresh and further insight into the world of precision agriculture.
The cost to attend is $35 and you can register for the conference online by clicking here.
