South Dakota Corn Growers Association President, Dave Ellens says corn planting started at the beginning of May and took about one week.

“If you blinked, you missed it. It’s amazing how fast farmers can put a crop in,” he says. “We didn’t have much for rain delays and have probably 80% done. Corn is starting to emerge in neighbor’s fields and it shouldn’t take long for our corn to come up.”
