Conference will focus on precision agriculture

A John Deere agronomist, a Pioneer Hi-Bred agronomy research manager and the founder of U.S. Commodities will be keynote speakers at the 2012 Precision Ag Conference on March 27 at the Ramkota Hotel Exhibit Center in Sioux Falls.

The event will begin with an 8 a.m. registration and will conclude at 4 p.m. The cost is $25 per person.

During the morning session, Tom Doerge of John Deere will give a presentation on achieving high yields in South Dakota, Barry Anderson of Pioneer will discuss variable rate seeding, and Ron Roose of U.S. Commodities will talk about risk management in volatile markets.

The conference will be presented by South Dakota State University Extension and Plant Science Department, the South Dakota Corn Growers Association, and Hefty Seed Co. The afternoon session will include 12 presentations on three key topics: linking equipment and managing data; equipment and technology; and on-farm research and improving knowledge.

In addition to the speakers, representatives of the precision-agriculture industry will exhibit and demonstrate the latest tools and technology during a trade show.
