Corn is a truly amazing crop with literally hundreds of uses. Many of those uses make our world a better place with products like clean-burning, renewable fuel and biodegradable plastics. Another product that utilizes corn and is purchased by millions but known by few is fireworks.
Corn starch is used as a natural and renewable binding agent in fireworks across the United States. As those bright colors and loud sounds fill the sky with American pride this week, corn is helping to make it all possible.
