Japanese trade team to visit Monday and Tuesday

An 11-member Japanese trade team will tour a South Dakota farm, grain elevator, ethanol plant and dairies during a two-day visit Monday and Tuesday.
The U.S. Grains Council is sponsoring the group’s trip to the United States. South Dakota Corn is a local sponsor.
The trade team is composed of Japanese grain buyers, an interpreter and Grains Council representatives. The visitors will be available for pictures, videos and interviews at their stops.
Japan is a top importer of U.S. corn, and purchased 9.1 million metric tons in a 9-month period from September 2013 to June 2014.
In 2012, exports of farm and ranch products contributed $3.6 billion to South Dakota’s economy, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
