Long-time farmer and former South Dakota Secretary of Agriculture, Mike Jaspers, has been appointed by the South Dakota Corn Growers Association to serve as interim Executive Director for the organization.
Jaspers replaces former Executive Director, Lisa Richardson, who resigned earlier this week.
Richardson served South Dakota Corn Growers for nearly 25 years.
“We look forward to working with Mike,” says Scott Stahl, President of South Dakota Corn Growers Association. “His depth of experience and ability to work with all stakeholders will certainly benefit our members and South Dakota agriculture.”
Jaspers is a native of northeast South Dakota and a graduate of South Dakota State University. He operates a diversified crop and livestock farm in McCook, Hutchinson and Marshall counties. He is the current Business Development Director for East River Electric Cooperative in Madison. Jaspers also served in the state Legislature from 1997 to 2004.
