The Sioux Falls Skyforce and South Dakota Corn are teaming up this week to raise money for Feeding South Dakota through a promotion that includes special game uniforms and a food drive.
Skyforce players will wear corn-themed yellow-and-green uniforms in their Friday (March 6) game against the Grand Rapids Drive at the Sanford Pentagon as part of Ag Appreciation Night. The jerseys will be auctioned off, with proceeds donated to the state’s largest hunger-relief organization. To place a bid, visit http://goo.gl/forms/tSFQkst9Cj.
The uniforms have received national exposure from Sports Illustrated and other media. Bidding has already started and will continue through the third quarter of the basketball game. Uniforms will be laundered after the game, autographed the next day during practice and mailed to winning bidders or available in the Skyforce office.
“Teaming up with a great franchise like the Skyforce to fight hunger in South Dakota is a win for everybody,” said Teddi Mueller, South Dakota Corn’s director of industry relations.
Leading up to the game, the Skyforce will conduct food drives from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily throughout the week at the following Lewis Drug locations in Sioux Falls. Each person who donates a non-perishable item will receive two free tickets to Friday’s game. Peanut butter, cereal, baby food and personal care items are in particular need.
