There were birdies aplenty at the annual Corn Cob Open on Thursday, Aug. 13 at Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort.
The team of Doug Berven, Joshua Shields, Chris Morey and Greg Breukelman, representing Poet, fired a 15-under par 57 to win the four-player scramble.
That score was good enough to edge out the Lakeco Crop team of Dave Ellens, Chris Wiese, Matt Oftedal and Shea Stoltenberg, which shot 58.
Third place, with a 60, was the Dakota Ethanol team of Scott Mundt, Ron Alverson, Rick Kasperson and Randy Hansen.
More than 40 teams competed in the event, which is normally held in June, but was moved to August because of the COVID-19 pandemic. To allow for social distancing, this year’s format included tee times instead of shotgun starts.
