A new study funded by the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council looked at land use from 1985-to-2021. Flipping back and forth between cropland to CRP to reduced till cropland, had benefits for carbon sequestration.
The study was commissioned by state corn organizations in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, North Dakota, and South Dakota and Wisconsin. It provides valuable insights for policymakers, researchers, and stakeholders involved in land use planning and management.
Dakota Lakes was formed to allow research to be more responsive to farmer needs and less susceptible to politics and public funding shortages.
