Requesting a Refund

You can request a refund of this checkoff fee by completing a checkoff refund application. The completed application must be postmarked or returned in person within 60 days of the assessment date. Applications postmarked or returned after 60 days will automatically be disallowed in accordance with SDCL 38-32-20. Applications must be mailed or returned in person (electronic submissions sent via email will not be accepted).

A checkoff fee of one cent ($.01) per bushel is automatically deducted when producers sell corn.

To complete a checkoff refund application: 

  1. Print the form and fill it out by hand. Sign and date.
  2. Include proof of checkoff assessment (copy of settlement sheet and copy of check or check stub). Your proof of checkoff assessment will contain:
    • Check date
    • Check number
    • Name of person the check was cut for
    • Number of bushels sold
    • Dollar amount deducted for checkoff
    • Commodity sold to verify it is a corn sale
  3. Save a copy of the application for your files. NOTE: we need only one copy (or the original) of each proof of checkoff assessment document. Copies or originals will not be returned.
  4. Mail or return in person your completed application and a copy of your proof of checkoff assessment documents to:

Applications will be reviewed and a check for a refund of the checkoff fee will be mailed within 60 days of the postmark date of the application.
