The South Dakota Corn Utilization Council is proud to sponsor the 2026 South Dakota Woman Farmer/Rancher of the Year Award, presented August 20 at Dakotafest in Mitchell.
The sixth-annual Midwest Agricultural Export Summit is coming to Sioux Falls on August 12. This year’s theme, “Forging Forward: New Markets, More Sales,” will bring together agricultural and trade leaders from across the state, region, nation, and world.
Recently, Ambassador Jameson Greer with the Office of the United States Trade Representative announced that the US did not agree to renew the US Mexico Canada trade agreement in its current form. The agreement will however remain in force as negotiations continue.
Recently, the FTC announced a fertilizer investigation looking at anticompetitive practices and market concentration. It is important for the agency to receive information about the fertilizer supply chain over the past decades.

This Fourth of July feels extra special as America celebrates 250 years of independence. That’s 250 years of hard work, innovation, and people willing to roll up their sleeves to build something better. And if you think about it, that same spirit is alive and well on South Dakota farms every single day.
South Dakota farmers understand the value of conservation practices that benefit pollinators. Many producers adopt USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service conservation practices such as cover or field borders or establish pollinator-friendly habitat areas to help support these important insects and animals. These and other conservation efforts can benefit pollinators, while also improving grazing lands and reducing soil erosion.
A new study from the U.S. Meat Export Federation shows that in 2025, beef and pork exports accounted for more than 32 million bushels of South Dakota corn usage and added more than 139 million dollars in value to South Dakota corn.
June is Dairy Month, and it’s a great time to recognize the important role dairy plays across South Dakota. In fact, 94% of our dairy farms are family owned, and together, the industry contributes more than 1.5 billion dollars to our state’s economy.
Recently, a Bloomberg article showed that recent earnings reports indicate record profits for fertilizer companies. When input costs go up, a farmer’s profit margin shrinks. Fertilizer companies have certainly shown that they increase prices simply because they can do so.
Family Farmers Feeding Us
The U.S. Government is currently investigating the fertilizer industry for anticompetitive practices. Now is the time to speak up.
