Jenny Fargen

Executive Assistant

Jenny was born and raised in the historic district of Sioux Falls, where she grew up watching her parents meticulously restore their home by hand. Their dedication instilled in her a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and a knack for fixing things around the house—a skill she takes great pride in. Jenny is a proud and playful mom who finds immense joy in spending time with her children. She loves dressing up, dancing around the house, and turning ordinary days into magical adventures filled with laughter and imagination. Sharing her home is Oso, her beloved Great Pyrenees, whose calm and curios presence adds warmth (and a lot of fur) to family life.

Music has been a lifelong passion for Jenny. She loved singing in choir and playing a variety of instruments, but it was the alto saxophone that took center stage. As a member of the Lincoln High School band, she had the unforgettable honor of performing in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and traveling to Europe as a Midwestern Music Ambassador. One of her most treasured possessions is an upright piano purchased by her grandparents and lovingly restored by her father. Hidden beneath five layers of paint was a stunning exotic wood finish—a transformation that taught Jenny never to judge a book by its cover.

Jenny finds pure joy in many things: dogs, marching bands, miniatures, genealogy, the outdoors, and of course, music. She knows every dog in her neighborhood by name and affectionately asks if they’re members of the “Tail Wagers Club.” Living downtown in her early 20s was a dream, especially because her driveway became a prime staging spot for marching bands during parades. Being awakened once a year by a drumline warming up outside was, without question, the best day of the year.

A devoted genealogist, Jenny is deeply proud of her agricultural roots—every one of her grandparents was born on a farm. She often asks her 96-year-old grandmother about life growing up, recently learning that as a child she drank from a wooden ladle. One of her most moving discoveries was finding the name of a long-forgotten farmhand on a census, bringing her grandmother to tears. Jenny also uncovered a photograph of a namesake relative her grandmother never had the chance to meet. Perhaps most profound of all, she found her birth mother through genealogy—an emotional journey that became the most meaningful story of her life.

When Jenny isn’t digging through family history, she’s likely enjoying a documentary or stand-up comedy special. She has an insatiable curiosity, with interests ranging from the history of dogs to homemaking traditions. Inspired by her grandmother—who could out-answer Jeopardy contestants—Jenny strives to live a life filled with learning and laughter.

To many, she’s known as “Jammin’ Jen”—a name earned during her ten years at Leif Erickson Day Camp, where she served as Music Director. She brought the camp to life, leading songs, dressing in costume, riding horses, shooting flaming arrows from a canoe, and even cleaning porta-potties. With over 2,000 campers each year, Jenny made magic happen—and still treasures the moments when former campers recognize her.

After her camp days, Jenny transitioned into the insurance world, working alongside her dad—a time she cherished. When he retired, she sought a new purpose and found a perfect fit with South Dakota Corn. She’s now thrilled to support farmers and help them succeed, carrying forward the same spirit of dedication and heart that has shaped her journey.
