BROWNFIELD AG NEWS: Muddy, Wet Fields Delay Some South Dakota Planting
Near Wentworth, Dave Ellens says fields were dry enough to get back into fields on Monday to plant some soybeans.
“The low ground is really wet and we’re having to go around that. It’s different from corn,” he says. “When we were planting corn, we were able to move throughout the field and now, planting soybeans, the fields are pretty saturated. We are having to go around the low spots. However, the regular parts of the field are fit to go.”
Ellens says farmers can make good planting progress if there’s a week of dry, warm weather and another planting window might open later this week.
