Missouri Valley Energy to hold groundbreaking ceremonies

Groundbreaking ceremonies for Missouri Valley Renewable Energy, a new 60 million gallon per year ethanol facility, will be held at 1 p.m., on Oct. 26 at the Dakota Dome in Vermillion. Invited speakers at the event include:

  • Governor Michael Rounds
  • Sen. Tim Johnson
  • Sen. John Thune
  • Rep. Stephanie Herseth
  • Lisa Richardson, South Dakota Corn Utilization Council
  • Tom Slunecka, EPIC
  • Kristin Brekke, American Coalition for Ethanol

Dirt work for MVRE is expected to begin yet this fall at the selected Meckling, S.D. location. The plant is expected to be under construction for an estimated 14-18 months with start up in late 2007 or early 2008. The plant is expected to have an economic impact on the surround communities, bringing 32 new jobs to the area. Glacial Lakes Energy, which is wholly owned by the Glacial Lakes Corn Processors (GLCP) cooperative, will be the owner and manager in the new plants.
