Sioux Falls Blender Pump Grand Opening and Promotion planned

Posted on April 09, 2010

The city’s first blender pumps will be officially welcomed to Sioux Falls with a grand opening and ribbon cutting event on Monday, April 12. The Kings Mart on the corner of Cliff Avenue and Benson Road is the proud location of the history making pumps and will celebrate their initiative to provide consumers choices at the pump by offering special promotions during the grand opening.

The Kings Mart blender pumps were installed in January through collaboration between the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council (SDCUC) and the American Coalition for Ethanol (ACE).

To mark the milestone, a press conference and ribbon cutting will be held at 10 a.m. to kick off the event in the Kings Mart parking lot. Media is invited to record the inaugural occasion in Sioux Falls and learn more about higher blends of ethanol, including the efforts and importance to accelerate blender pump infrastructure in the state and nationwide.

Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin will join representatives from the state legislature, the SDCUC and ACE as featured speakers at the press conference.

Following the press conference, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., motorists can take advantage of discounted prices for ethanol blended fuels at the station: E10, which can be used by all makes and models of vehicles, will be sold at a 10 cent per gallon savings during the 3-hour promotion. In addition, the higher blends of ethanol for flex-fuel vehicles will be discounted 30 cents a gallon for E30 and 85 cents a gallon off of E85 fuel. Kings Mart will feature in-store specials as well.

Members of the SDCUC and ACE will be greeting consumers during the promotion and pumping the ethanol blended fuel for the motorists taking advantage of the major savings at Kings Mart on April 12.
