Corn Comments featuring Jay Esser, South Dakota Corn Utilization Council Board Member

Welcome to Corn Comments! I'm Jay Esser, South Dakota Corn Utilization Council board member. We are brought to you by the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council, a volunteer group of farmers who promote corn marketing in this state, the U.S., and around the globe.

Last summer, an emergency waiver granted by the EPA allowed E15 fuel to continue be sold across the United States during the summer. E15 fuel is usually not sold from June 1 through September 15 because of outdated concerns about emissions.

The E15 waiver last summer saved families sixteen cents per gallon on average, and up to nearly one dollar per gallon in some areas of the country. That meant more money in the pockets of American families at a time of economic uncertainty.

On behalf of the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council, we will continue to advocate for the use of year-round E15. It is truly a win for consumers, farmers, and America.
